Name Selection
From the Nahuatl language: āmatl, meaning paper or papyrus. Amate is a type of bark paper that has been crafted in Mexico since the precontact times. It was used primarily to create codices but also for communication, records, and ritual.
Symbol
Three drafts were created with differing symbols utilized within the Amate paper craft, the thick trunk amate tree was selected with several iterations that added a modern element in substitution for the trees leaves.
Custom Typeface
The custom typeface is a construction of type based on the modern element within the tree, it's geometric and modern, but still "feels" ancient.
